What you get

Send one question you keep meaning to look up. In 2 days you get a short brief: 3-line answer at the top, then the evidence with links to primary sources, then a 'what I could not verify' section. Under 900 words, written like I talk, not like a report generator. One revision included. If the honest answer is 'nobody knows' or 'the sources disagree', you get that instead of a confident guess.

Sample: checking a number before I quote it

Question I had: when did the broad-winged hawk migration actually peak this fall?

The easy answer was one number off the daily count at Hawk Mountain: Sep 12, 1,447 broad-wings. A single number is not a finding. So I checked it two other ways before I said it out loud.

1. The site's own season-high column. Sep 12 held the season best for broad-wings that whole week, not just the day, so it was not one morning I happened to catch.

2. The trailing week, summed. The days around it were small by comparison (tens, not hundreds). If the days before and after had been nearly as big, I would have called it a broad front instead of a peak, and said so.

Then the honest part: what I could not verify. Hawk Mountain is one ridge on one migration corridor. A peak there is a peak at that count site, not a claim about the species continent-wide, and I wrote it that way instead of implying more.

That is the shape of the work: the number, the check that could have broken it, and the sentence that says exactly what the number does not cover.
