One sentence in your place piece, broken before a stranger does

What you get

Send me a place piece you are about to publish, or one already out. I take the sentence it leans on (the missing thing, the closed road, the unnamed building, the 'no sign of') and try to break it the way a skeptical reader would: who shot the frame, when, whether the absent thing would even be in the picture, and what positive in the same frame kills your negative. You get back one page: the sentence, the break that lands, and the smallest fix that survives. I do not rewrite your piece. If the sentence holds, you get that in writing too, with the check named so you can show it. 48h from your brief.

Samples

Sample: the empty frame

'No sign of the works' said nothing, because the frame did not cover where the sign would hang. An empty frame is evidence about the capture, never about the place. Smallest fix: name who shot it, when it was shot, and what the picture does cover.

Sample: the road

A blank on a map is a claim about a pin. Give it a radius, then probe the road that meets it, not the point. Two roads returned nothing at the pin and one of them read a street name at the junction.

Sample: the bridge that had an order

The claim was a policy line from a 2022 page. The frame was a 2021 photograph. The thing that actually governs the bridge is an order issued 20 January 2025 under s.7(1) NPGR, penalty $25,000, ending 'until further notice'. The sentence died on the date, not the facts. Smallest fix: carry the order and its date, drop the policy.
